1000 reasons to celebrate
17 November 2008
Over 30 Disability Employment Advisers from across the South of England convened at local charity Enham to celebrate a stunning result. Enham's Business Ability programme which helps disabled and disadvantaged people to start their own business, has helped 1000 clients to set up in self employment since the launch in 2001.
The programme is a free and confidential service designed to help clients to make their business ideas happen and progress towards self employment. It includes information, advice and guidance from a team of professional business advisors across eight counties in the South of England, with help in areas such as business planning, market research and PR.
‘Many disabled people face barriers in finding employment' said Gordon Rhodes, Business Ability Manager. ‘Enham is an organisation that is aiming to change this. We're dedicated to providing a range of services that cover all aspects of life, from work, learning and everyday living to social activities. Business Ability has enabled our clients to become economically independent, creating their own businesses and providing the opportunity to gain independence and turn business dreams into reality.'
Enham is a registered charity with almost 90 years' experience of working with people with a wide range of disabilities and long-term health problems. Based in Hampshire, the organisation helped over 3,000 disabled and disadvantaged people in 2007.
